Owing to holidays and David W being 'mal de combat' here is a catch up with the rest of the July TAMS results.
14th July: George Raeburn was first with an impressive nett 29. Ken Davey and Steve Farrar could not be separated for second with nett 32s. John Forsyth was nearest the pin at the 7th.
21st July: Nett 29 again took first place for Sandy Macfarlane with John Burnett returning a nett 31 for second. Richard Edmonds eagled the 8th while Brian Robson birdied 7 and was nearest the pin. Jim Cutler played his first TAMS round.
28th July: Despite the excellent condition of the course, scoring was on the high side. Nett 35 took first place for Harvey Robertson on count back from Sandy Macfarlane. No birdies were recorded and John Forsyth was nearest the pin at the 7th.
20 souls turned out today. Bill Hardcastle ( who was seen practising the previous evening ) came first with 21 Stableford points, beating Sandy Macfarlane on count back. Bill also birdied the fourth. Alan Urquhart was nearest the pin at the 7th.
Unfortunately David Wallace will be out of action for some time with a damaged shoulder so the birdie count will drop - saving on the ball budget!
As Membership Convenor I feel it is vitally important for the long term success of the Club that we attract and develop as many junior players as possible. I was delighted to hear that the TAMS are continuing to support Junior Golf development and have presented a cheque for £300 for this purpose. On behalf of the Captain and Committee I would like to thank our Senior players for investing in the future of Peebles Golf Club.

There was another good turn out with 24 players taking to the course. Tony Kinder had a neat nett 31 to take first place with John Burnett coming second with a nett 32.
Warner Hardie was nearest the pin at the 7th while Roger Key birdied 5 and Andy Tucker birdied 9.
A constructive dialogue has developed with the Greens Convenor, Jim Dickson, re the management plan for the bunkers.
Apologies for the delay in posting last week's results but I was travelling around California and Arizona. Now that I have an Internet connection in Phoenix - here goes!
Good conditions saw a good turnout with 25 playing. Scoring was low with Brian Robson taking first place with a nett 27. Steve Bacskowski (aged 89) was second with a nett 29.
Sandy Macfarlane was nearest the pin at the 7th while David Wallace birdied the 8th.
A dreich start to the morning was reflected in some dreich scoring!
David Parker however posted an excellent nett 30 to take first spot with Jim McAuslin edging second on 31 from John Burnett. Roger Key was nearest the pin at the 7th.
The only birdies were the usual crows and gulls!
Due to the Ladies competition this Thursday the TAMS played on Tuesday this week but the same acronym applied! Perhaps due to a few senior moments only 12 players competed.
David Wallace had an excellent gross 36 (nett 29) to lift first place. Sandy Macfarlane beat John Forsyth - both nett 30 - on count back but John had the satisfaction of being nearest the pin at the 7th.
Next Thursday the TAMS play for the Roddy McAlpine Gavel - the result of which is not declared until the Christmas Lunch.
There was an excellent turn-out of 21 on a cold damp day. The scores continued to impress, again thanks to the fine greens and ever-quicker fairways. The clear winner was Joe Nisbet with a nett 27. Bill Hardcastle was second with a nett 32 and he was followed by a closely packed field on nett 33,34 and 35.
The inviting pin position and the following wind on No 7 yielded 2 birdies;our elder statesman Steve Baczkowski, at age 89, showed us how to do it along with Tony Kinder who also won the nearie at No 7. David Wallace managed a birdie at No 9 thanks to two big hits to the front edge.
Next week we play on Tuesday as there is a Ladies Competition on Thursday.
On a cool day day we had an excellent turn out. The running fairways and the fast-improving greens produced some very low scores.
in first place was John Burnett with a nett 28, followed in second place by Harvey Robertson with a nett 30. There was a log jam of scores right behind them.
Nearest the pin at No 7 was John Burnett. The scorer was however perplexed by this when he saw that John had in fact recorded a bogey 4 at No 7. The sad tale unfolded that a putt of just a few inches for a birdie 2 somehow resulted in a three-putt bogey. Such is golf!!
Despite the excellent greens no birdies were recorded.
Richard Edmonds was first with a net 29 and was nearest the pin at the7th but could not convert an allegedly very short putt for the birdie!
Steve Farrar and Peter Barclay continued good recent form with net 32, Steve winning on count back.
Andy Tucker had 8 holes he will want forget but happily birdied the 9th.
The fast improving golf course and the slightly warmer weather brought out the best in the TAMS today.
Scores were extremely good and today's winner with 28 Stableford points was Peter Barclay. Gordon Smith was second with 25 points, closely chased by George Raeburn and Jim McAuslin Eric Ward birdied No 9 and Bill Hardcastle, refreshed by 3 months down under, made a great birdie on the 3rd hole where the pin position was as tough as it gets.
Ronnie Watt was nearest the pin at No 7 and Andy Tucker celebrated his 60th Birthday!
A morning of temperature extremes also saw some extreme golf.
John Forsyth returned a net 30 for first place with Steve Farrar beating Harvey Robertson on count back with both recording a net 31 - bad luck Harvey!
The 7th was birdied by Eric Ward, David Parker, Ken Davy and David Wallace ( who also birdied the 9th). Eric was also nearest the pin at the 7th.
This trophy is awarded to the player with the best three Stableford scores over the winter months. The winner this year is David Wallace with a total of 59 points with Chris Beaumont coming second with 56 points.
7th April
With the season's new handicaps ( everyone +5 ) good scoring was anticipated and delivered. 4 players tied on 22 points. After count back Gordon Fisher and Alan Urquhart could not be separated and were jointly declared first with Steve Baczkowski second. Steve and Gordon also birdied 7 where Gordon was nearest the pin.
14th April
An unusual error free outing saw George Langlands return a net 29 for first place with Richard Edmonds second on 31. Gordon Fisher birdied 7 AGAIN while Ken Bowie was nearest the pin.
21st April
A high turnout of 25 players saw some high scoring despite the generous handicaps.
Ken Bowie and George Tucker tied on net 32 with Ken winning on count back. Harvey Robertson and Warner Hardie achieved rare birdies at the 7th where David Wallace was nearest the pin. George Cunningham had his first TAMS outing making 3 new players this month.
Very sadly we lost Bill Lord - a real gentleman.
17th March
Andy Tucker was in first place with a net 35. Eric Ward continued his good form with a net 36 to claim second place. There were no birdies however!
24 March
On his first TAMS outing, Steve Matthews came first with a net 37 (after count back) . David Parker came second.
Roger Key birdied the 9th hole.
Ken Davy also had his first TAMS outing. It was great to see two new TAMS joining the group this week.
The results for the TAMS ( Thursday am Seniors ) competitions will now appear on this section of the website.
David Wallace and George Langlands will continue to provide the results in an informative and often humorous fashion.
