Despite a poor weather forecast 26 players turned up. Scoring was generally good, Alister Lambie recording a net 28 for first place with George Langlands one behind on 29. Alister was nearest at 7 converting the birdie opportunity. Ken Davey and Chris Malcolm both birdied 9.
The group enjoyed Tunnocks Tea Cakes courtesy of Jim McAuslin who was celebrating his 92nd birthday.
20 players played for the Ken Bowie Salver the result of which will be announced at the Xmas lunch.

The much-anticipated competition for the Peebles Putter took place on a pleasant morning with 21 hopefuls demonstrating their putting skills.
The result will be announced at our annual lunch, but suffice to say there was a clear winner with a most impressive scarcity of putts.
Play was pretty good for the weekly medal and there was a tie on nett 30 between Warner Hardie and George Cunningham, with Warner just winning on a detailed countback.
Ken Davey was nearest at no 7 and Ken also birdied no 5.
Members are reminded that on 5th September we will compete for the Ken Bowie Salver - a 5-club Stableford competition.
On a calm sunny morning - was it late summer or early autumn? - we welcomed back after injury Ian Quigley and Jim Walker among our 22 starters.
Only 4 of us played well, the rest being hidden behind a veil of discretion.
Warner Hardie and Ronnie Watt scored nett 31 and tied for first place on nett 29 were Alister Lambie and Chris Malcolm.
Alister won on a count-back, while Chris birdied the 9th.
Gordon Fisher graced a high-scoring outing with a well-played birdie on the 9th and Ken Davey was nearest on the 7th.
TAMS were reminded that on 29th August we will compete for John Forsyth's 'Peebles Putter', details of which have been circulated to members.
Also, we will compete for the Ken Bowie Salver on 5th September. This event is a five-club Stableford.
Very blustery conditions were reflected in high scores with record numbers of 7's-8's-9's- 10's and 11's !
Brian Robson and Ken Davey defied the elements both recording net 31's with Brian taking the countback.
There were no birdies and David Wallace repeated last week's success being nearest at 7.

After missing a week due to the Senior Open, the TAMS got back into action.
Eighteen of us enjoyed a lovely morning sandwiched between the dire days of foul weather which are causing havoc in our summer season.
The scoring was good with many players playing well no doubt due in no small part to the excellent condition of the golf course.
Sandy Macfarlane and Wilson Struthers tied for first place on 22 points with Sandy winning on a countback.
Tony Kinder who might have won had he played his favourite hole (the ninth) rather better still managed a fine birdie at the 7th. Warner Hardie birdied the ninth and David Wallace was nearest at no 7 (but he missed the putt!!!).
Temperature records to be broken to-day were not matched by hot scoring on the course. Only 2 players recorded sub net 30 scores, Graham Mackie winning with net 28, Roger Key returning net 29.Ian Tate birdied 7 and 8, and was nearest the pin at 7. Brian Robson birdied 9.
24 players turned up to brave the heavy showers forecast. Scoring was generally good, Brian Taylor and Alistair Lambie returning net 29 with Brian sneaking the countback. Bill Hardcastle birdied the 2nd and the 8th, Sandy Macfarlane birdied the 9th. George Tucker was nearest at 7 for the 3rd time this season.

Many thanks to Captain Ross Duncan for giving us an insight into his role as Captain and speaking candidly about the challenges facing Peebles [and many other clubs] . Thoughts on how the various issues might be addressed were openly aired.
Our elder statesman Steve Baczkowski-93 years young-presented this year's TAMS cheque for the Clubs juniors to Captain Ross.
10 souls braved the threat of thunderstorms only to encounter some very heavy showers. John Forsyth continued recent good form returning a net 30 and taking nearest at 7. Chris Malcolm was second on net 32.
The TAMS look forward to Club Captain Ross Duncan spending some time with them next week.
A fine if blustery summer's morning, with the course in excellent condition, encouraged some very good stableford scoring.

With a lovely summer's morning and the course in "Championship" condition good scoring was expected. Unfortunately it was not delivered with 22 players scoring net 30+ with seven on net 33. Jim McAuslin [one of our elder statesmen] returned net 27 to take first place from a refreshed George Langlands who had net 29, and also birdied the 6th. Ronnie Watt was nearest at 7 with what he described as a lovely shot-tho' this was disputed by Brian Robson!
On a blustery morning which was far from the promised forecast we had 23 starters.
Nothing however got in the way of this weeks winner, Doug Coltman, who won with a record nett score of 23.
A distant second was David Wallace on nett 30 who won on a count back from Roger Key.
Ian Tate was nearest on no 7 and Bill Hardcastle birdied the 7th.
We did have another birdie today - a cuckoo who serenaded us up the 4th and along the 5th with its distinctive haunting cry.
The dismal weather and the menacing forecast were together so dire that only four of the TAMS finest (Warner, Sandy, Bill and David) took the field today.
We require six starters to make a quorum, failing which we have no result.
All of our fine shots therefore went unrewarded!!

On the 75th anniversary of D-Day, we also enjoyed a brief 'weather window' which allowed 24 of us to play in warm and pleasant conditions.
The golf course was in excellent condition although our scores did not really reflect how well the course was playing.
In a tightly packed field, Brian Robson took first place with 22 points and Ronnie Watt edged John Napier, David Wallace and Ian Tate on a count-back for second place with 21 points.
Surprisingly, there were no birdies today.
Warner Hardy was closest on No 7.
We also congratulated Ian Tate on winning the Seniors Stableford this week with a massive 42 points.
Then we had a real seniors moment.
Several of our members were schoolboys on D-Day and in return for a ball they each gave us their own recall of that momentous day.

Pick of the crop was Melvin Cannell with net 27 closely followed by Bill Hardcastle on net 28. Melvin was also nearest at 7 while Bill birdied the first and eighth, Warner Hardie birdieing the seventh.
30 players enjoyed the challenge of playing with 5 clubs competing for the Roddie McAlpine Gavel the winner of which will be announced at the Xmas lunch.
Birdies were recorded by Ken Davie [2] and Ian Tate [1]. Not to be outdone by these young whippersnappers our senior TAM, Stevie B [92 years young], was nearest the pin at 7.
On a lovely morning with a slightly cool eastern breeze 27 people took part.
Roger Key took 1st prize with a fantastic 27 net.
In 2nd place with a net 28 was Graham Mackie.
There were birdies for Gordon Fisher at the 1st.
Chris Beaumont had a marvellous birdie at the 7th after chipping in from off the green.
Roger Key and Ken Davey had birdies at the 9th.
Brian Robson was nearest the pin at the 7th but failed to convert a reasonable birdie chance.
It was good to see our oldest member, Steve Baczkowski, back playing, after his recent illness.
Steve showed he had lost none of his golfing skills with a net 29 .
21 played this morning finding pleasant conditions compared to yesterday's monsoon.
Scoring was very tight Ian Tate and Graham Mackie both returning net 30 with Ian winning on countback. Several players were on 31 and 32 net.
Ronnie Watt was nearest at 7 getting inside Gordon Fisher who converted the birdie opportunity.
On the 23rd we will play for Roddie McAlpine's Gavel which is a 5 club stableford.
A chilly Spring morning was warmed up by some hot scoring on the course. 14 players scored 18 points plus with Eric Ward and George Cunningham both returning 27 points, Eric winning on countback. A feast of birdies was returned by Doug Coltman, George Cunningham, Ronnie Watt and Ian Quigley, Ian also being nearest at the 7th.
John Forsyth was presented with the Drew Haldane Quaich having won the Winter Stableford competition.
On a warm late spring morning we had 22 starters.
Running fairways and fast-improving greens yielded good scoring.
We had a complete tie for first place between Gordon Fisher (freshly returned from the cruising circuit) and Sandy Morris, both with nett 25. Their scores could not be separated so they were both awarded two balls with no second place award.
Nearest the pin FOR THE SECOND WEEK RUNNING was that old campaigner George Tucker, who shepherds the end of the field most weeks getting them back into the clubhouse in good time.
Steve Farrar and David Wallace both birdied the 9th.
Our oldest member, Steve Baczkowski, has been in hospital but is now on the mend, so we sent him our best wishes in a nice card with our individual greetings.
