Different day - same acronym!

Due to the Ladies competition this Thursday the TAMS played on Tuesday this week but the same  acronym applied! Perhaps due to a few senior moments only 12 players competed.

David Wallace had an excellent gross 36 (nett 29) to lift first place. Sandy Macfarlane beat John Forsyth - both nett 30 - on count back but John had the satisfaction of being nearest the pin at the 7th.

Next Thursday the TAMS play for the Roddy McAlpine Gavel - the result of which is not declared until the Christmas Lunch.

TAMS Result for Thursday 26th May

There was an excellent turn-out of 21 on a cold damp day. The scores continued to impress, again thanks to the fine greens and ever-quicker fairways. The clear winner was Joe Nisbet with a nett 27. Bill Hardcastle was second with a nett 32 and he was followed by a closely packed field on nett 33,34 and 35.

The inviting pin position and the following wind on No 7 yielded 2 birdies;our elder statesman Steve Baczkowski, at age 89, showed us how to do it along with Tony Kinder who also won the nearie at No 7. David Wallace managed a birdie at No 9 thanks to two big hits to the front edge.

Next week we play on Tuesday as there is a Ladies Competition on Thursday.

Thursday 19th May result.

On a cool day day we had an excellent turn out. The running fairways and the fast-improving greens produced some very low scores.

in first place was John Burnett with a nett 28, followed in second place by Harvey Robertson with a nett 30. There was a log jam of scores right behind them.

Nearest the pin at No 7 was John Burnett. The scorer was however perplexed by this when he saw that John had in fact recorded a bogey 4 at No 7. The sad tale unfolded that a putt of just a few inches for a birdie 2 somehow resulted in a three-putt bogey. Such is golf!!

Despite the excellent greens no birdies were recorded.

TAMS 5th May - Happy significant birthday Andy Tucker!

The fast improving golf course and the slightly warmer weather brought out the best in the TAMS today.

Scores were extremely good and today's winner with 28 Stableford points was Peter Barclay. Gordon Smith was second with 25 points, closely chased by George Raeburn and Jim McAuslin Eric Ward birdied No 9 and Bill Hardcastle, refreshed by 3 months down under, made a great birdie on the 3rd hole where the pin position was as tough as it gets.

Ronnie Watt was nearest the pin at No 7 and Andy Tucker celebrated his 60th Birthday!

Early Season TAMS Results

7th April

With the season's new handicaps ( everyone +5 ) good scoring was anticipated and delivered. 4 players tied on 22 points. After count back Gordon Fisher and Alan Urquhart could not be separated and were jointly declared first with Steve  Baczkowski second. Steve and Gordon also birdied 7 where Gordon was nearest the pin.

14th April

An unusual error free outing saw George Langlands return a net 29 for first place with Richard Edmonds second on 31. Gordon Fisher birdied 7 AGAIN while Ken Bowie was nearest the pin.

21st April

A high turnout of 25 players saw some high scoring despite the generous handicaps.

Ken Bowie and George Tucker tied on net 32 with Ken winning on count back. Harvey Robertson and Warner Hardie achieved rare birdies at the 7th where David Wallace was nearest the pin. George Cunningham had his first TAMS outing making 3 new players this month.

Very sadly we lost Bill Lord - a real gentleman.
