28th September

Our most-improved golfer, Tony Kinder, continued his well-deserved progress with a great win on the last medal round of the Summer season

He won with nett 31, followed by John Napier on nett 34. Ken Davey was nearest the pin on the 7th.

5th October

Our winter Stableford season began on a lovely autumn day with the trees looking glorious in their autumn colours.

There was a tie on 18 points between Brian Robson and the last man out, Doug Coltman.

Doug won on a countback.

Jim Walker was nearest on the 7th and both he and Graham Mackie birdied the 7th.

Results for 14th September and ... another significant birthday!

Only 20 played this morning the recent wet weather no doubt putting some off. Steve Farrar maintained recent good form with a net 31 to take first spot, David Wallace taking second with net 34. Warner Hardie was nearest at 7. 

Jim McAuslin ,one of our founding TAMS, has celebrated his 90th birthday-he kept it very much under the radar.

TAMS will be represented by 6 players at the Sponsors' Day.

Ken Bowie Salver

To-day we played for the Ken Bowie Salver the winner of which will be declared at our Xmas lunch.

Birdies were recorded by Ian Tate at the 9th and George Langlands at the 5th. Sandy Macfarlane was nearest the pin at 7.

26 played despite the weather forecast.

End of the Meteorological Summer TAMS

There were only 20 players on a lovely summer's morning. General scoring was again poor but Ken Bowie, who last played in March and has had major surgery, returned a remarkable net 31 for first place. John Napier continued a good run of form with net 32 for second. Sandy Macfarlane birdied the first and John Forsyth was nearest the 7th.

Next week's stableford will be playing for the Ken Bowie Salver.

Fisher's 5 star performance!

In spite of benign conditions general scoring was poor-only 7 out of 28 players returning sub net 35. Star man was Gordon Fisher who was first on net 30,birdied 4 and 7 where he was also nearest the pin winning a total of 5 balls-a highly unusual event. Second on net 32 was John Napier with Bill Hardcastlerecording a birdie at 9.

Results 17th August

The good conditions of a beautiful summer's morning were not reflected in the scoring, which was very poor. Recently sub-30 scores were required for a top 5 finish.To-day 34 was the lowest score shared by Ken Davey and Ronnie Watt, Ken winning on countback. Harvey Robertson recorded the only birdie at 9 [his sartorial choice for the morning being much admired!] while George Langlands was nearest the pin at the 7th having lost his glasses-there is a message there somewhere. 29 played.

TAMS back in action - August 10th

With a touch of Autumn in the air, we had 26 starters.

Harvey Robertson and Richard Edmonds tied on 22 points and Harvey won on countback thanks to a par, par finish.

David Wallace was nearest on No 7 and Bill Hardcastle had the only birdie of the day on No 9.

We said 'au revoir' to Donald Miller who is returning to New Zealand after a summer with us.

27th July results

A pleasant morning greeted 25 players. Two of our 'senior' TAMS battled for first place with net 30, Joe Nisbet edging out Harvey Robertson on count-back.

A first TAMS birdie was recorded by Tony Kinder with George Cunningham nearest at the 7th.

20th July Results

Despite the heavy overnight rain 28 souls turned up for golf. George Cunningham won with a very tidy net 30, Wilson Struthers coming second with net 31.

Birdies were recorded at the 4th-Roger Key- and 9th- Ken Davey who was also nearest at the 7th.

It was confirmed that our sponsorship contribution to the club would be £400 this year.

Results for 13th July

Despite excellent conditions scoring was surprisingly high with several 7's 8's and 9's. John Napier-until recently our country member-returned a net 26 for first place with Gordon Smith coming second on 28.Gordon also birdied the 9th.

Roger Key was nearest the 7th despite being as far away from the pin as it was possible to be!

Result for 6th July

The rain forecast did not arrive and Ken Davey took full advantage of the conditions returning 24 stableford points. Warner Hardie was second on 21 points. Bill Hardcastle returned the only birdie at 9 while George Langlands was nearest the 7th. 19 played.

Wow - what a spectacular day!!

On a day when the golf course was looking truly magnificent, the 28 starters responded with an equally magnificent display.

Leading the field to rapturous acclaim was our 'Elder Statesman', Steve Baczkowski, who won with a splendid nett 27 (gross 49).

He was closely followed by three on nett 29.

After a countback, second was our summer Kiwi visitor, Donald Millar, who insists that he is a Lions supporter.

On top of that we had four birdies - Sandy Macfarlane (who lipped out for eagle), Steve Farrar and Bill Hardcastle all birdied the ninth (despite the acting coordinator trying to argue that in the conditions the ninth was really a par 4); and Gordon Fisher birdied the fifth.

To complete the ball feast, Chris Beaumont was nearest at the seventh.

Well done guys!

Result 15th June

24 players enjoyed a benign summer's morning. Good  scoring was reflected in 4 players returning net 29's. After various countbacks John Forsyth was declared the winner, Doug Coltman coming second-Tony Kinder keeps knocking on the door-his time will come.

Birdies were recorded by John Forsyth, David Wallace and Graham Mackie-Warner Hardie being nearest the pin at the 7th.

A bit wet for June but it didn't deter Mr McAuslin

It was a morning of very soggy cards and extremes of scoring. The conditions did not deter one of our founding [ie oldest] TAMS Jim McAuslin who won on countback from David Parker and Tony Kinder all on net 30. David was second and also nearest at the 7th,converting the birdie opportunity. Gordon Fisher also birdied 7 while Alistair Lambie birdied the 4th.

Hopefully we will all dry out before next week!

June 1st - Drew Haldane Quaich winner announced!

To-day the winner of the Drew Haldane Quaich was confirmed. This goes to the player with the 4best stableford scores over the winter. Chris Beaumont won with 75 points just ahead of George Tucker with 74 points.

30 players turned out for what was a high scoring morning. Harvey Robertson won with 25 points with Richard Edmonds second on 24 points[beating Joe Nisbet on countback].

Richard was also nearest the pin at the 7th while Chris Beaumont birdied the 7th.

TAMS result for Thursday 18th May:

On a day of good scoring, Chris Beaumont led the field with nett 29, followed by Ronnie Watt on 31.

There were many hot on their heels with 32.

David Wallace birdied No 9 and George Langlands was nearest on No7.

TAMS result for Thursday 25th May:

This was easily the hottest day of the year so far.

On beautiful greens and running fairways the large turnout of 26 toiled in the hot sun and did not manage a single birdie.

Bill Hardcastle however showed us all how to play and won with nett 31 and was also nearest at the 7th.

A resurgent Chris Beaumont maintained his run of good form and was second on 33 despite the handicap reduction after his win last week.

May 11th and the winner is ...... wait until Christmas!

To-day we played for the Roddy McAlpine Gavel, the winner of which will be revealed at the Xmas lunch.

Birdies were recorded by David Wallace [3rd and 9th] and Warner Hardie [ 9th]. Brian Taylor was nearest at the 7th.

David was the star of the TAMS team which played in Tuesday's Peebles Youth Trust Charity Day winning nearest the pin at the 1st and 12th holes.

Thursday 4th May

1st place with an almighty 30 points was George Tucker.

In 2nd place with a very respectful score of 22 points was Eric Ward.

Nearest the pin was Jim McAuslin and Warner Hardie was the only player
who had a Birdie.

26 players took part on a dry morning but had to endure a very cold
wind at times.

Thursday 27th April

24 souls braved a cold nor'westerly on Thursday. Andy Tucker hit a rich vein of form coming first with net 29 and also hitting closest a the 7th. John Forsyth was second on net 30 while Brian Taylor produced the only birdie of the day at the 9th.

Alistair Lambie endured his first TAMS outing [he had to play with Gordon Fisher!]

Next Thursday will be a normal Stableford and on the 11th we will play a 5 club Stableford for Roddie McAlpine's Gavel.

Thursday 20th April

An improving course saw improving scores with 3 players recording sub net 30 scores and 10 players recording sub net 35's.

                                       George Cunningham beat Jim McAuslin on countback, both recording net 27. Richard Edmonds birdied the first while George Langlands was nearest at the 7th-a floating 9 iron to 2ft-and the birdie was converted.
