We have an exciting new job opportunity for a greenkeeper to join our team at Peebles Golf Club in the Scottish Borders.

Position: Full-time (Modern Apprenticeship – Sports Turf / Greenkeeping)

Any age and experience considered.

About the Club

The jewel in the Borders golfing crown, Peebles is a fun but challenging Harry Colt designed course set in a beautiful location with a family friendly vibrant club at the heart of the local community. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of course presentation year-round and are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Greenkeeper to join the course maintenance team. All applicants will be considered, with an option for a Modern Apprenticeship position for eligible applicants.

The Role
Working alongside the Course Manager and experienced greenkeeping staff, the successful candidate will assist with the daily maintenance and preparation of the golf course while working towards a recognised qualification in Sports Turf / Greenkeeping.

Training will be provided through a Modern Apprenticeship programme delivered by SRUC Elmwood Campus, combining on-the-job experience with formal training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with mowing greens, tees, fairways and rough

  • Course setup including tee markers, hole changing and bunker preparation

  • Use and maintenance of turf machinery

  • General course maintenance and improvement work

  • Learning safe working practices and turf management techniques

What We Are Looking For

  • Interest in outdoor work and golf course maintenance

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

  • Ability to work early mornings and in all weather conditions

  • Good teamwork and communication skills

  • A strong work ethic and reliability

Previous experience is not required as full training will be provided.

Training

The successful candidate will undertake a Modern Apprenticeship in Sports Turf Maintenance (SVQ Level 2) through SRUC Elmwood Campus.

Salary

Competitive apprentice wage depending on age and experience.
